What Actually Speeds Up Degradation

The same fleet data shows degradation isn't uniform — a few specific habits make a real difference:

  • Heavy DC fast-charging use: vehicles that relied on fast chargers above 100 kW for more than roughly 12% of charging sessions degraded at up to 3.0% per year — about double the rate of drivers who primarily charged on AC (Level 1/2), who averaged closer to 1.5% per year.

A few habits go a long way: favor home Level 2 charging over DC fast charging for routine driving, keep the daily charge limit around 80% if your car allows it (saving 100% for road trips), and park in shade or a garage during extreme heat when you can.
